Alexa: Why did you photograph the river after surviving the bank robbery?
Sebastiao: For the roughness, the velocity. It was if it represented my feelings after. I was angry. Indeed, I was upset.
Alexa: You were inside the bank when the robbery was committed. How did you feel?
Sebastiao: I was happy with myself because I did everything I could have in that moment, before the eyes of the robbers, and so they couldn’t see me. But I was upset to watch others humiliated. So it was a mix of feelings.
Alexa: What is the name of the river?
Sebastiao: Rímac. It means “the talking river” in Quechua. It is because it makes a lot of noise, because of the stones.
