Students Make Documentary on Filipino-American Farmworkers; Explore Personal Identity in the Process

Inspired by the Farm Worker Movement, I set out to make a documentary as a part of preserving the history of the Filipinos in this movement by focusing on Agbayani Village as a symbol of solidarity between the Filipinos and Latinos. With each interviewee, I was inspired by how their lives reflected social change as a reality. The project eventually evolved into a personal exploration of my identity as a Filipina American. In the end, I gained a sense of agency from my identity as a Filipina American, from this history of resistance and the moving stories of the interviewees.
