Window into Organizing Process for Wastepickers at Nicaraguan Dump Site

This movie tells the story of how the wastepickers at the Nineteenth of July dump site in Bluefields, Nicaragua organized in January 2012 when MIT D-Lab Waste students traveled to the region to collaborate with the women in an effort to build a small recycling business. The movie is a Part II to the original Snapshot of Life in a Nicaraguan Dump Site story.

The MIT Community Innovators Lab partners with D-Lab on a fall course where students collaborate with wastepickers, the UNDP, blueEnergy, and the municipality of Bluefields to develop waste management strategies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and create enterprise opportunties for the women featured in this film.
