Angela Hojnacki, an MIT junior studying Mechanical Engineering and Urban Studies and Planning, spent two weeks in Sao Paulo, Brazil working with the waste-pickers union, Rede CataSampa, and the FGV (Fundação Getulio Vargas) business school. She made this video about her experience.
Angela says: “Our goal is to teach Catadores, or waste-pickers, in these coops how to convert their diesel engines to run on waste vegetable oil, which they collect around the city. This will help reduce their operational costs.”
