Walking over the Highway in Slush on Soundcloud.
On the day the blizzard hit, Boston was so pretty. Everything was white, including Storrow Drive — a fast-moving downtown highway that winds through Boston and Cambridge. I had the unprecedented experience of walking over Storrow Drive on one of the footbridges and hearing no cars.
Just two days later, rain and sun had melted the snow and Storrow Drive was blacktop again. The footbridges hadn’t been cleared yet so my boots made a slush-pushing sound. By the time I got to the middle of the foot bridge, though, the cars were drowning out the sound of my feet. Things were back to normal.
